Powder Coating Prep Checklist
Get your parts ready the right way and your job moves faster (and often costs less). Here's the exact checklist we use — free to save or print as a PDF.
Before You Drop Off
- Remove all non-metal parts. Bearings, bushings, rubber seals, grommets, plastic, glass, stickers and wiring — powder coating is metal-only and cures at high heat.
- Take off hardware you want to keep. Valve stems, sensors, emblems, and trim that shouldn't be coated.
- Drain fluids. Any part that held oil, fuel, or coolant should be drained and as clean as possible.
- Knock off loose grease and dirt. You don't need it spotless — we blast it back to bare metal — but heavy grease is best wiped down first.
- Note threads & machined surfaces. Tell us which holes, threads, or mating surfaces must stay coating-free so we can mask them.
Know Before You Go
- Pick a color & finish. Gloss, satin, matte, metallic, candy, textured — or bring a sample to match. Browse options →
- Snap a photo first. Text it to us for a quote before you even drop off. (931) 801-9607
- Ask about teardown. Can't remove the non-metal parts yourself? We can — there's just a small added fee.
- Plan turnaround. Ask when you drop off — we keep it fast, but big or multi-stage jobs take a little longer.
